Trevor Lester joined Leeds West Academy in 2017 and braught a wealth of teaching experience with him. He has a passion for teaching Mathematics and works tirelessly to provide the best education possible.
Trevor has taught Mathematics at three schools over the past two decades. After graduating with a degree in Mathematics and Statistics at Hull University, he completed his PGCE and spent his first four years teaching at Brighouse High School. He then moved to Royds School, where he gained responsibility for coordinating the Gifted and Talented provision at the school. He was also responsible for coordinating the Aim Higher initiative, which raised students' aspirations and increased the number of students who continued in education.
Following his appointment at Ryburn Valley High School as second in Mathematics in 2007, Trevor was made the Head of Mathematics in 2009. Over the next eight years, he lead the department to produce consistently high results at both GCSE and A-Level. He used a variety of strategies and techniques over the years, to ensure that students were able to reach their potential.
Trevor has a passion for Mathematics and the use of data to drive up results. He was appointed as Assistant Principal with The White Rose Academies Trust and is responsible for the use of Data by staff and students to improve overall performance. He intends to ensure that all students at Leeds West Academy experience the best possible lessons and leave with results that they can be proud of.
Out of school, Trevor is a member of a local running club and enjoys the relaxation that exercise can provide. He is a devoted family man and enjoys spending weekends going for walks around parks and in the countryside, especially if it involves a slice of cake.
