Richard Jagger
Assistant Principal - Achievement
Richard Jagger began their tenure as a Maths teacher at Leeds West Academy in January 2015, having previously taught at Swallow Hill Community College since 2013. Over the subsequent nine years, they contributed to various aspects within the Maths department, honing their skills as both a classroom practitioner and a leader. In 2021, Richard was promoted to Curriculum Leader, a role they held until 2024. During this period, the Maths department was honoured with the prestigious Bernice McCabe Award, which recognises excellence in subject leadership and celebrates quality subject teaching.
In 2024, Richard was appointed Assistant Principal for Achievement, a position in which they supported the academy in achieving its most successful academic results in 2025. Beyond their professional achievements, Richard is an avid sportsman who has competed at the international level in lifesaving since 2006. They have earned multiple Commonwealth, European, and World championships while working at Leeds West Academy and continue to passionately engage in various sporting activities.
