BBC Schools News Report

BBC School Report is a national event that provides key stage 3 pupils with the opportunity to become journalists and take an active interest in the news and current affairs.  Over the last month students from Years 7 - 9 have been working towards focusing their news report on the Intergeneration Project, a scheme that LWA students have been involved in for the past few weeks. The aim of which was for young people to help the elderly connect with new technology such as the Internet; an aim that was achieved to great effect.

The BBC School News Report involved interviewing both the elderly people and the students that took part in the Intergeneration Project, the Project Co-ordinator, and Mrs. Hall. The students had the opportunity to have a day in the life of a news reporter - they scripted, researched, edited, swung boom mikes about and demanded regular refreshments from Miss. Sandham and Mr. Hunt! But it wasn't all fun and games...the students had to work to a tight deadline, and impressed all the staff involved with their dedication and hard work.
