Six students at Leeds West Academy have flown to Namibia on the trip of a lifetime.
Having departed on Monday 11th July, the students are participating in the ‘World Challenge’ scheme, a programme that encourages youngsters to raise funds and develop initiative and leadership skills. Each of them have participated in a variety of fundraising schemes over the last two years to finance the trip, having raised over £3000 each.
Whilst on the trip they will convert a garage into a kindergarten school for local children as well as presenting them with gifts such as footballs, sports kit donated by the Leeds Rhinos and musical instruments. Other scheduled activities will be trekking the Skeleton Coast and seeing seals, elephants and lions, sand-dune walking and seeing other spectacular sights Namibia has to offer.
All arrived safely in Windheok, landing in temperatures of 64 degrees!
