Charlie wins prestigious TV award
Charlie Clark has won the ‘most promising newcomer’ award at the Yorkshire Royal Television Society Awards.
Held at an elaborate ceremony at the Queens Hotel, Leeds, on Monday 13th June 2011, Charlie won the prize for her critically-acclaimed portrayal of Lydia Holly in the recent BBC production of South Riding.
In her category she was up against personalities from Calendar and Look North and was thrilled to win such an accolade:
‘I was in shock and really happy to win what hopefully will be the first of many awards. It would be nice to win a Bafta or an Oscar next time! I had a lot of people congratulate me and say they’d like to work with me in the future so hopefully there’ll be more exciting projects coming up.’
Charlie has just completed her AS Levels at Leeds West Academy and is heavily involved in the academy’s Performing Arts specialism, which will be further enhanced by the opening of a £30m new building in September 2011.
