LWA signs with the Rhinos!
LWA has signed a unique partnership with the Leeds Rhinos, which started during a special PE camp over February half term.
The academy hosted a Year 5 Gifted and Talented PE Camp, which saw a group of 20 students from many of our neighboring primary schools working with Mr Pocock and Mr Clement on various aspects of PE.
The group learned about the alternative sides to sport, such as officiating and leadership, as well as competing in a wide range of unusual activities such as judo, trampolining and table tennis. Parents and Carers watched the last half an hour of every day and even joined in some of the activities.
At the end of the week Ali Lauittiti and Ian Kirke, two professional rugby players from Leeds Rhinos, came to present certificates and do a Q & A session. LWA has signed an exclusive agreement with the Rhinos which will see both parties do a lot of work together in the future. Over the next few months exciting coaching opportunities will be available for our budding rugby stars of the future, as well as opportunities for sessions at Headingley stadium.
The students asked the players some very intelligent and in-depth questions and the players chatted with them for over an hour. All the Year 5 students who participated were impeccably behaved and were a credit to their school, making it a great end to a great week!
