LWA's top artists present their work in London
On Wednesday 21st July twelve LWA students presented a selection of their finest work at E-ACT’s London office on Oxford Street.
E-ACT Chairman, Dr Noorzaman Rashid, welcomed the students and staff, congratulating them on the very high standard of their work, which he said would not be out of place at professional exhibitions in the capital. The best work has been mounted on the walls of the office, a great achievement for our students.
Dr Rashid, a former student of Bradford Art College, reviewed the work before presenting the students - some of whom were visiting London for the first time - with certificates marking their achievement.
He said: “Art and the arts are key to a rounded education, because they help bring out levels of creativity and awareness that are critical whatever your future career choice.”
Leeds West Academy Principal Annette Hall, said: “It's a great accolade that the work of students at Leeds West Academy has been chosen to be exhibited at the headquarters of our sponsor, E-ACT. We hope the quality of the work will inspire the staff who work in London and remind them of the talents of the students throughout E-ACT academies.”
After meeting E-ACT’s Director General, Sir Bruce Liddington, and enjoying lunch, the students made their way to the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square. Taking in the sights and sounds of the capital, our students were great ambassadors for the academy and took a keen interest in the wonderful art on display.
The trip was a great success and we look forward to taking our next batch of great artists to meet our sponsors and be inspired for the future! Click for full gallery of pictures.
