LWA Open Day - Down the rabbit hole
Leeds West Academy hosted an Open Day for prospective students on Saturday 3 July. Visitors were treated to an Alice in Wonderland-themed tour of the building, as all departments put on example lessons of what LWA has to offer.
Activities included hat-making in the Year 7 area, demonstrations and a chance to meet our resident rabbits in the Science department, tumbling activities with Drama, and clock making in Technology! Throughout their tour our younger visitors took part in a treasure hunt, ably guided by the King and Queen of Hearts, Tweedledee and Tweedledum and Alice herself!
There was also an opportunity to view the plans for our new building, due to open in September 2011. Upon completion of their tour families could then indulge in the free BBQ and ice cream that was on offer!
A big thank you to all staff who were involved and especially our students, who gave up their Saturday morning to take part in the lessons and welcome our guests!
