LWA's Martial Arts Champion
Competing in a variety of different grappling styles, Antoinette beat two opponents of light blue belt status (one higher than her current ranking) and lost out on the gold to a boy who was 12 stone!
Training throughout the week, Antoinette is careful that her dedication to her hobby doesn’t interfere with her studies. However she highly recommends the benefits of training in martial arts:
‘I have fun when I’m on the mat, it focuses my emotions and energy and uses them in a productive way. I have been training long enough now that my club feels like a second family to me. I have gained fitness and enjoyment from a hobby that I love. As a club we also go on trips, such as one recently where we camped, went hiking and participated in outdoor sports such as archery.’
Having only started training three years ago this is a great achievement – the silver has been added to the 13 other trophies she has won. Everyone at LWA wishes Antoinette good luck in her next competition in October!
