Ed Balls Officially Starts Work on New LWA Building!

Ed Balls Officially Starts Work on New LWA Building!

Ed Balls, the Secretary of State for Schools, has cut the first turf on the site for the new £30m Leeds West Academy building.

Mr Balls was joined by E-ACT Director General Sir Bruce Liddington, Principal Annette Hall, local Councillors and staff and students from LWA.  Student representatives were also present from local Primary Schools, many of whom will benefit from the new facility in the future.

The new building will include professional-standard theatre and performance areas, new sports and fitness equipment and the latest ICT technology to enhance and benefit learning throughout the academy.

Annette Hall said, “This isn’t just an investment in bricks and mortar, it is for the community and its young people.  I believe that Leeds West Academy will be a place which will inspire local young people for generations to come.”

The new Leeds West Academy building will be open in September 2011.
