Year 7 Bramley Elderly Action project

Some Year 7 LWA students have just completed an innovative inter-generational project with Bramley Elderly Action.

Starting in November 09, students reflected on life in Bramley with some of our elderly neighbours and worked with a professional writer to produce some fantastic poetry. It was a successful collaboration resulting in some very impressive work. The students became confident communicators, improving their oral and written literacy skills as the project progressed.

The final work was shared with our wider community when they visited Bramley shopping centre on March 1st. Students met up again with our friends at Bramley Elderly Action and helped distribute information to visitors who were then able to view the poetry. It is hoped the exhibition will be shown at a later date by Leeds City Council.  They were applauded for their good behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the project.
