Creative Digital Visual Arts
Students, as artists achieving and enjoying, are at the heart of the Creative, Digital, Visual Arts Area at Leeds West Academy. Embracing the 'Leeds West Way' and a positive ethos, CDVA offers an exciting range of skills and mediums including Photography, Film, Digital Imaging, Graphic Communication, Creative Media, Textiles and Craft. A wonderful blend of excited, experienced staff and eager, energetic new teachers, passionate about their subject specialism and students, underpins learning in the creative area where 'Every Child Matters'.
Apple Mac computers, film, darkroom facilities and a photography studio complement traditional media classrooms and support engaging Schemes of Work and Art projects. Artists in residence, trips to galleries and visits to theatres at home and abroad, enhance the creative curriculum, providing students with a broad art experience, the opportunity to meet with practitioners and view works of art first-hand.
Our Visual Arts students enjoy a range of art processes and are rewarded with excellent exam results whilst also reaching their creative potential; many go on to study art at a higher level. We currently have many new exciting courses on offer including Interactive Media and the Art and Design diploma. There is something for everybody in the Creative, Digital and Visual Arts Area and success is the reward for our budding artists at LWA.
