Trevor Lester brings a wealth of teaching experience to Leeds West Academy. He has a passion for teaching Mathematics and works tirelessly to provide the best education possible.
Trevor has taught Mathematics at three schools over the past nineteen years. After graduating with a degree in Mathematics and Statistics at Hull University, he completed his PGCE and spent his first four years teaching at Brighouse High School. He then moved to Royds School, where he gained responsibility for coordinating the Gifted and Talented provision at the school. He was also responsible for coordinating the Aim Higher initiative, which raised students' aspirations and increased the number of students who continued in education.
Following appointment at Ryburn Valley High School as second in Mathematics in 2007, Trevor was made the Head of Mathematics in 2009. Over the past eight years, he has lead the department to produce consistently high results at both GCSE and A-Level. He has used a variety of strategies and techniques over the years to ensure students are able to reach their potential.
Trevor has a passion for Mathematics and he inspires the same vision with students. He has been appointed as Assistant Principal with The White Rose Academies Trust and has responsibility for the use of Data and for leading the Mathematics department. He intends to ensure all students at Leeds West Academy experience the best possible Mathematics lessons and leave with results of which they can be proud.
Out of school, Trevor is a member of a local running club and enjoy the relaxation that exercise can provide. He is a devoted family man and enjoys spending weekends going for walks around parks and in the countryside, especially if it involves a slice of cake.
