David Hillary will join Leeds West Academy in July 2017 as Vice Principal for Achievement & Outcomes. His role is underpinned by a simple principle that students are keenly aware of what they are doing well and what they need to do to improve, so that they can achieve their full academic potential.
David has a proven track record of success in Teaching and Leadership Roles and a relentless determination and passion to see all young people receive the very best in education that they deserve. This involves outstanding learning experiences, a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom and the confidence to be highly effective in the world of work in years to come.
David previously worked at an outstanding school in Doncaster as a Teacher of Science and Head of Year. He then moved to Bruntcliffe Academy in September 2002. During this period of time he was promoted to Assistant Headteacher and then to Deputy Headteacher. He had direct responsibility for a number of roles, including Pastoral Care, Curriculum & Timetable, Examinations, Data and Assessment and the implementation of the whole School Discipline Policy. This Academy has seen many successes over the last few years and has been regarded as the most improved school in Leeds during this period.
