Year 10 Students Go Higher

Go Higher West Yorkshire Class of 2024 Collaborative Summer School

From Tuesday 17th – Thursday 19th July, Miss Singleton accompanied six Year 10 students to the Go Higher West Yorkshire Class of 2024 Collaborative Summer School. The students stayed at Leeds Beckett University’s Kirkstall Brewery halls of residence in order to replicate university life as much as possible.

Across the 3 days, the students visited a number of Higher Education Institutions, including Leeds City College, University of Bradford and Leeds Trinity University. Students were able to explore student finance, budgeting, Further and Higher Education pathways and interactive subject tasters. They also had some down-time at Hollywood Bowl and Red Hot Buffet as a treat for their engagement and focus throughout.

On the final day, the students took part in an enterprise challenge where they represented LWA against 16 other schools. The students were asked to design their own university course, using the information on fees, UCAS applications and course structures. We were very proud that our students were one of six schools who were asked to present to all other attendees.
