World Book Day
In honour of World Book Day, some strange characters from the land of fiction have appeared at Leeds West Academy.
World Book Day is an international celebration of everything book-related and an opportunity for young people to talk about the books they love and meet new literary works. Every student is offered a book token which enables them to obtain a unique free World Book Day novel.
Director of Learning Mrs Chillington said: “It’s been a fantastically booky day. The really imaginative costumes dreamt up by staff, who dressed as characters from their favourite books, have led to lots of book-related conversations with students.”
Librarian Mrs Black added: “It was a particularly busy day in the library, with a Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner competition and of course lots of colourful costume honouring our favourite literary characters. World Book Day celebrates everything about reading and Leeds West Academy certainly rose to the challenge.”
