Student of the Year Awards 2015
This month Leeds West Academy Sixth Former Jordan Fullbrook was shortlisted for The Student of the Year Awards within the category of Sports & Physical Education. Backed by the Government and the business community, The Student of the Year Awards is a UK-wide, annual programme which recognises students who burst with talent, achieve outstanding marks and who give back to their school or college and their community. Leeds West Academy was the only school from Leeds represented at the event.
Jordan was nominated by Ms. Baggaley after he won the Yorkshire Championships in Trampolining, which is now providing an opportunity for him to qualify for Great Britain. Jordan has also assisted in several community projects and has continued to inspire fellow students within Leeds West Academy.
Following shortlisting, Jordan was invited to attend The Student of the Year Awards ceremony in London. At the ceremony he was awarded runner up as ‘Highly Commended’ from the six students in his category. The event was hosted by Mastermind presenter and BBC journalist John Humphrys.
Ms. Baggaley attended the event with Jordan and said today: “This is a great achievement for the Academy. Since Jordan has begun Trampolining his confidence has flown and he is inspiring many students within the school, showing how everybody can achieve great heights with effort and determination.”
Principal Nick Hinchliffe added: “We are delighted with the recognition that Jordan has received for his achievement in sport and community projects. He brings back to the Academy an award for which we’re immensely proud. We also thank Ms. Baggaley for the nomination and look forward to the next Student of the Year Awards in 2016.”
