Leeds West Academy

Sports Report

This term has been a great term for sport at Leeds West Academy.

The Year 9 Boys Football team has gone from strength to strength this season, and have capped off an undefeated start with a fine 2-1 Second Round Cup Victory over another undefeated team in Pudsey Grangefield. Mr Noutch said: "Massive congratulations to the students involved and long may the run continue!"

In Rugby, the Year 8 Girls team went to Shaw Cross to play in a mini rugby tournament. The girls are new to rugby, so our players were a year behind on experience compared to other schools. However, the team were very impressive. Whilst they lost both their games against Farnley and Cockburn, they played with resilience and determination. Ms Davey said: "Our new Girls Rugby team did the Academy proud. Now it's onwards and upwards for this great team, who have demonstrated outstanding potential."

In November the Year 9 Netball team attended Farnley Academy and won 13-4 with a phenomenal performance. The players worked hard as a team with some impressive shooting and defending skills. Ms Davey added: "This has been a great start to the season and its fantastic to see so many girls turn out for matches and training. Well done girls!"
