The Journey Begins
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Leeds West Academy, a school with a remarkable sense of community and an incredible place to work and study. Having only recently joined the Academy as Principal, I have quickly discovered that our students are amazing. They are incredibly welcoming and respectful young people who hold a strong sense of what is fair and what is unjust. Our students respect staff who firmly uphold the ethos of our Academy, fairly and consistently. Our students are also our biggest critics because they hold the largest stake in our individual and collective performance.
At Leeds West Academy, we hold the six core values of resilience, independence, respect, responsibility, participation and aspiration at the centre of all we do. This is precisely the spirit in which our students and staff work on a daily basis. We are an Academy with immense ambition and strong aspirations; our students deserve the very best and we will not be satisfied until we provide every student who entrusts their education to us, with an experience that is truly world-class.
This journey has now started. Launched in June 2017, our Strategy for Rapid Improvement sets out a clear plan, the aim of which is to give every student an equal opportunity to be exceptional. The plan is centred around 12 key strategic priorities and focused on achieving better outcomes for each and every one of our students. It is through these priorities that we begin to write our story of monumental improvement. When we get this right, we will inherently improve the life chances for our students.
Please take time to browse through our school website to find further information about our vibrant school community. Visitors to our Academy sense the purpose in our classrooms, the positive climate for learning and the warmth of our students and staff. Please do not just take my word for it. To believe this you need to experience it first-hand and we would be delighted for you to see our Academy in action. If you would like to arrange a tour of the school, please contact Mrs Sharon Hinchcliffe at Hinchcliffe.S@whiteroseacademies.org.
