Dynamic show launches the Christmas season
Year 8 and Year 9 Performing Arts Specialism students performed a unique performance of Peter Pan on Wednesday 30th November, as part of Leeds West Academy's Christmas season of productions.
Peter Pan or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, tells the story of Peter, a boy who takes Wendy and her brothers to Neverland where they meet the Lost Boys and defeat Captain Hook. The play is loosely based on the novel by JM Barrie.
Ms Hudders produced the play with 38 students over fifteen hours of workshop and rehearsal time in EEP, bringing contemporary and popular music, dance, comedy and drama to the well-loved children's' story. The technical presentation was also supported by students.
Ms Hudders said: "All of the students had a brilliant time and we can't wait for the next show from such a talented group of students. Rehearsals are now well underway for the Academy's next production of The Wiz in March 2017, so we hope to see you there."
Academy Principal Nick Hinchliffe added: "This unique production of Peter Pan is the perfect show to launch the Christmas season of shows we have on offer at the Academy. Peter Pan demonstrated the imagination, talents and confidence our students have in bringing a classic story to stage with a modern twist. We thank Ms Hudders for her time developing this show with Year 8 and Year 9 and look forward to the Christmas Concert on Thursday 8th December, featuring even more stagecraft from our talented students."
