Leeds West Academy

October Sports Roundup

On Tuesday 20th October Mr Booth took Year 7 Rugby Players to the Leeds Finals of the Champion Schools Competition, where Leeds West Academy were playing to reach the regional stages. Unfortunately the team didn’t make it into the top five in order to secure a place in the regional competition, however reaching the finals was a huge achievement for the boys and the school.

In other news Ms Singleton travelled with Year 7 and Year 8 Netball teams to Pudsey Grangefield on Wednesday 14th October for a couple of great games. It was the Year 7's first outing and they were absolutely trying their utmost. Year 8 took on fantastic leadership roles and were superb role models to our younger students.

On Monday 19th October Ms Davey went to Priesthorpe with Year 9 and Year 10 Netball players for their first games of the season. The team were exceptional but a special mention needs to go to Isobelle who scored all of our goals. Players included: Abbie, Megan, Najma, Stephanie, Kiana and Kiesha. Year 10 unfortunately just lost out at 6-8, but still played their hearts out. It was also great to see new players represent the Academy with players including Kia, Shirley, Holly, Chloe, Angel, Wanida, Ellie, Bethany, and Alexia.

Finally the Year 9 Football team played an away match against Farnley Academy on Wednesday 14th October and came away with a respectful and entertaining 6-6 draw. This is a massive improvement on last year when the same team beat us 7-1. The boys showed great grit and determination to come back from a losing position of 5-2. A very special mention to Milton and Jake who stepped up to play in the match, both delivering a magnificent job.
