Leeds Beckett University Trip
Next steps in careers and education
This term Ms Sandham, Mr Heera and Ms Halliday took a group of Year 8 students to Leeds Beckett University. The aim of the trip was to encourage students to think about their futures, and to learn about what going to university is really like.
The pupils had a tour of the campus, played some fun games in the sports facilities and even had a real lecture in a lecture theatre. They had the opportunity to see students working in the library, find out more about what subjects and courses they can take, and talk to lecturers about what they wanted to study in the future.
As a result of the trip, there was a 25% increase in pupils thinking about going on to Higher Education and a 58% increase in pupils knowing what they wanted to study.
Ms Halliday said: “The students and staff had a wonderful day, and are looking forward to their exciting futures.”
