Leeds West Academy

Furthering STEM Opportunities

In March, three schools within the White Rose Academies Trust, including Leeds West Academy, worked collaboratively at Asda's MCE and The Ahead Partership's STEM event.

STEM is a coalition of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, working to support students and teachers within emerging technological fields of research and development. STEM also presents pathways to future employment for girls and boys within local industry.

Leeds West Academy students were given the unique opportunity to work alongside businesses from Yorkshire Water, Northern Gas Networks, Asda, Siemens, The British Army and many more. The students showed great enthusiasm during each of the different sessions, asking many interesting questions about future employment within these industries as Yorkshire becomes a growing centre of technical development and engineering.

ITV's Calendar News carried the story which is featured on its website here.
