Helping produce outstanding student leaders
Leeds West Academy are working with Franklin Scholars, a renowned organisation that teaches Year 10 students to mentor those in Year 7. Franklin Scholars produce outstanding student leaders, helping younger students make a strong start in secondary school through peer tutoring and coaching.
Franklin Scholars stated that all Year 10 students who applied performed at a very high standard in the interview process, and as a result have all been granted a place on the project. The induction day will take place on Wednesday 12th October and the Year 10 students will meet the pupils they will mentor on 19th October.
Ms. Sandham, Assistant Principal who is overseeing the project, said: "The leadership and communication skills that the Year 10 students are learning through this process is invaluable. This is fantastic preparation for their future careers. The Year 7 students will also benefit considerably from the support they are due to receive."
More details of this exciting project will be listed in our News Section as it happens.
