Bright Friday with the Lord Mayor
Friday 1st August was Bright Friday at Leeds West Academy, a unique non-uniform day raising awareness of SACAR & Specialist Autism Services, who work exclusively for and with persons with an Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Making a special civic visit to the Academy was the Lord Mayor of Leeds.
The Lord Mayor spoke to Year 7 during Rewards Assembly, speaking about personal progress and future aspirations before visiting several classes across the school. During a Maths lesson, student Ellie greeted the Lord Mayor and discussed her GCSE options for next year.
Ms Hobson said: “Well done to everyone for delivering a vibrant splash of colour to the Academy today for SACAR & Specialist Autism Services. We thank the Lord Mayor of Leeds for taking the time to visit our school and speak directly to our students. Today has been a wonderful way of seeing in end of term, raising over £1000 through our #BrightFriday campaign with #J1D16. Congratulations to all involved.”
