Academy Principal's Update
As the Christmas holidays draw closer, Mr Hinchliffe wishes to update you on a number of events and activities occurring throughout the duration of this term:
Meet Your Coach Day - Tuesday 3rd January
Our first Meet Your Coach Day of the year will take place on Tuesday 3rd January 2017. This will be your opportunity to meet with your child’s coach to discuss their latest progress report, and to raise any issues or concerns that you may have. I will also be running a session throughout the day to explain our reporting arrangements, let you know about all the national changes to qualifications, and answer any questions. This year we have a brand new online booking system. In order to use this booking system, please read the instructions available to download here. If you do not wish to use the online booking system you can telephone the academy to arrange an appointment time.
l letters that are sent home from the academy are now being stored on our academy website; the letters can be found in the Students and Parents section, under Letters Home. We will continue to send a text home when important letters are sent home, so you will be able to download a copy.
Year 11 Revision Evening and Mock Exams
There will be mock exams taking place for Year 11 students during the week beginning the 5th December. On the 7th December, we will also be holding a special Revision Evening for Year 11 parents and students. We will be giving lots of advice about preparing for the end of year exams, and serving pie and peas. Information about the Revision Evening and the Mock Exams can be found under the Letters Home section on the website.
Changes to Isolation and Detentions
As part of our ongoing commitment to review and improve our Positive Discipline system, we have made some changes to the way in which isolation is run and detentions are organised. Detailed information about these changes can be found in the Letters Home section in a document called Isolation Changes.
The Academy will finish at a slightly earlier time of 2:30pm on Tuesday 6th December 2016 due to staff training.End of Term Arrangements Our last day of term is Friday 16th December. This will be a non-uniform day, and we will have an early finish at 12:20pm. Students should bring a minimum donation of £1. This year we will focus our fundraising efforts as the White Rose Academies Trust on raising monies for the British Heart Foundation, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and The Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund.
We look forward to seeing all parents and carers on Meet Your Coach Day on Tuesday 3rd January and wish you all a restful Christmas holiday. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the wide range of seasonal events the Academy has on offer this term, including our Foundation School production of Peter Pan and the hugely-popular Christmas Concert on 8th December.
