A-Level Results Day 2015

 

LWA Sixth Form have set a new record in results today with Emily Cuerden achieving A* grades in History, Psychology, English Language, Media Studies and Extended Project. She has obtained a place at the University of York to study Linguistics.


Other success stories include Katie Ingle, who was awarded As in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Extended Project. She is going to the University of Leeds and will be studying Chemistry. Jacob Gilpin attained an A* in Extended Project, A in English Language and Bs in History and English Literature. He is going to the University of York to study Law. Jordan Holdsworth was awarded As in Extended Project and English Language, with Bs in History and English Literature. Jordan will be attending the University of Liverpool to study English and Communication Studies.


Megan Taylor also achieved fantastic results, with A grades in English Language and the Extended Project, alongside Bs in English Literature and Psychology. She is going on to the University of Leeds to study English and Education.
Highlights in BTEC include three Distinction * from Shannon Andrews in Applied Science Diploma and Hospitality Sub Dip. Shannon will be going to Teeside University to study Criminology. Molly Basnet gained three Distinction * in Business, IT and Hospitality and Merit in Art and Design. She will be enrolling at Leeds Beckett University to read Events Management. Ben Zubi also gained three Distinction * in IT diploma and Sport.


All students who applied for university have gained their choice placements. Two thirds of our leavers will be going into Higher Education, with others venturing into work and training placements. The Sixth Form have made great progress during their time at Leeds West Academy, surpassing goals and reaching new levels of academic attainment, as well as leading on a number of extra-curricular activities and events, as reported in our news section.


Principal Nick Hinchliffe said today: "It has been a tremendous morning to celebrate achievement and progress at Leeds West Academy. We congratulate our Sixth Form on their record-breaking grades and wish them well on their exciting journey into careers, higher education and beyond."


Dr. Debbie Danks added: "I could not be more proud of our students. Seeing all their hard work pay off in such tremendous grades really does make everyone's hard work worthwhile!"
