In 2009, Leeds City College formed following the merger of three of the city’s renowned further-education institutions. The College is now one of the UK’s largest FE establishments with over 30,000 students and 1260 staff, making it one of the area’s largest employers.
Leeds City College provides a vibrant, multicultural learning environment, delivering excellent and innovative education that is supportive, inspiring, and life changing. Across the college there are 127 countries represented by students, with the diverse staff population adding to that number.
The curriculum on offer covers most subject areas and includes full and part-time academic and vocational qualifications for pre and post 16-year-olds. Courses cover basic-skills, Apprenticeships, GCSEs, A Levels, vocational qualifications and Foundation Degrees.
The College works closely with its diverse stakeholders, from community groups and third-sector organisations, through to employers and regional, national, and international business partners. Leeds City College operates out of four main campuses – Keighley, Park Lane, Technology, and Printworks – as well as having provisions in smaller community centres across the region.
In September 2019, the College will open a brand new Campus in Quarry Hill, a site dedicated to Digital and Creative Arts and Health Science provision, and house expansion for Leeds College of Music.
Leeds City College, Keighley College, Leeds College of Music, and the White Rose Academies Trust are all part of the Leeds City College Group, led by CEO, Colin Booth OBE. The Group work together to provide benefits to the region, in offering bespoke provision, but also bringing together higher and further education opportunities in a unique way to ensure quality and seamless progression continuity.
